tanding in Millennium Park and looking north at some truly tall buildings, the video face on Crown Fountain fits perfectly into the cityscape. This public artwork cost $17 million to construct, with a LED display designed to function for thirty years. It might be expensive, but it does remind me of the futuristic architectural landscape featured in the film “Blade Runner,” projecting a representation of Los Angles in 2019. Looking around the park at the pedestrians milling about, I wondered if any replicants - visually indistinguishable from adult humans - were blending into the crowd. A new life awaits you in the off-world colonies, the chance to begin again in a golden land of opportunity and adventure.
“We began to recognize in them a strange obsession. After all, they are emotionally inexperienced, with only a few years in which to store up the experiences which you and I take for granted. If we gift them with a past, we create a cushion or a pillow for their emotions, and consequently, we can control them better.” - Dr. Eldon Tyrell
