esthetics is important to me, and its experience perhaps is an inherent human essential that promotes well-being. At any rate, I am sure that serious investigation of aesthetics supports my mental and spiritual health. Furthermore, I am willing to embrace the question of beauty as worthy of thoughtful intellectual inquiry. I make no claims that my notion of beauty is universal, or that my interests diminish the interests of others. But I categorically reject the notion that if something has an apparent aesthetic component it must therefore be only decorative and thus insignificant. In fact, art that addresses any substantial topic can legitimately be simultaneously good to look at.
