igh-density condition, cities are jam-packed with people. Moreover, man is not separate from nature, but is an integral part, just like the beaver that builds a dam and subsequently modifies the environment. Before the Industrial Revolution, the world's human population was under 250 million. Now we are sitting at 7 billion individuals, with media driven expectations of affluence. Overpopulation, however, increases competitive stress on fundamental life sustaining resources, eventually leading to diminished quality of life and an untenable future.
“A finite world can support only a finite population; therefore, population growth must eventually equal zero.” - Garrett Hardin
