T he color and reflective quality of this city dumpster makes it an interesting visual object. Fortunately, its relationship with shapes and colors in the immediate environment integrate into a larger geometrical abstract study. The idea of a trash receptacle functioning as the focal point for fine art appeals to me. Perhaps a more ambitious artist would physically reposition the dumpster. Recontextualized by placement into a gallery installation, the forced experience might question the purpose of art. Nevertheless, I am happy with preserving just a representative pictorial interpretation.

“A child's appetite for new toys appeal to the desire for ownership and appropriation: the appeal of toys comes to lie not in their use but in their status as possessions.” - Christopher Lasch
