rbanization in rough terrain has transportation consequences. This image was captured just a few feet into the Armstrong Tunnel in Pittsburgh. This structure was built in 1927 and runs under Boyd's Hill, actually a portion of the Monongahela River bluff. I would have gone deeper into the bore, but strident noise generated from rushing traffic was obnoxious.
