hen out photographing, there is always a certain intensity of tension operative. The desire to make not just good images, but better images than those already made underpins the effort. In fact, this whole notion of forward progression and establishing quality value relative to creative output becomes problematic the longer the engagement. Value judgments must relate to social position and are themselves acts of cultural positioning. The disaffected dimension becomes increasingly nebulous.
