se it or lose it. Recently I was asked what motivates a predisposition to take so many pictures. This question is posed in relation to my practice of publishing an artwork each day. It is easy to explain the frequency issue, as it simply is an understanding that to be good at anything requires constant practice. Being engaged aesthetically on a diurnal cycle exercises the creative muscles, preventing atrophy. The larger the experiential base, the greater the pool of knowledge from which to draw inspiration.
The bigger question is why make art at all? The most valid personal reason I can articulate is simply that it provides pleasure. I like it. Looking, seeing, and responding to all that I encounter gives me things to think about. I enjoy thinking.
“One day in your life you feel
Something in you
One day in your life your
Heart will free your fear
Because it's one day that
You might never be around here
And I'll never ever see you alive” - 54-40
