Ephemeral

   Transitory light
Passing with time
Quick as thought

W hile standing high on the dam at Maple Leak Lake, looking east as the sun suddenly broke through the clouds, things turned fleetingly magical. Having already set-up the camera on a tripod and carefully composing the shot, nature fortuitously performed. My plan was to stay in one place for several hours to capture a time sequence for post-processing, but the cold wind was too much. Soon after this exposure, I moved out of the airstream to a more sheltered position and welcomed the night.

“Light gives of itself freely, filling all available space. It does not seek anything in return; it asks not whether you are friend or foe. It gives of itself and is not thereby diminished.” - Michael Strassfeld
