n the way to Kansas, past the retail magnets and highway attractions, is the occasional late model vintage artifact. There is no precise definition, but you know it when you see it. In this case, things appear to date back to the Eisenhower administration. One of these days, I will build courage and try Waid's restaurant, reputedly a classic diner with vinyl seats and old-fashioned coffee mugs. Living history, perhaps they serve classic biscuits and gravy.
