Pollination

   Flowering plant ecosystem
Nectar pollen gathering
Opportunistic forager

E ven though we are heading into fall, with leaves changing color as temperatures drop, many wild flowers are still blooming and bees are still active. Up to one third of the human food supply depends on insect pollination, most of which is accomplished by bees, especially the domesticated European honeybee. As you might know, in recent years managed populations of honeybees have significantly declined. Visually collaborating with this assiduous insect, my thoughts drifted to a canary in a coalmine, in view of a creature's fate as a harbinger of the larger future.
