epicting volume and spatial relationships on a flat surface, an ultra wide-angle lens exaggerates the recession that is projected by an unaided eye. Recognizing the potential transformation of object and scene size relationships relative to distance, over time I tend to use the optic more abstractly. Neuroscience supports the realization that experience is reduced down to an essential construct of imagination. Sensations may feel correct and truthful when mentally internalized, but they do not actually reproduce physical reality. This appreciation is liberating and supports the desire to engage multiple viewpoints. Although much understanding is initiated by physical stimuli, the same neural apparatus interpreting sensory input is also accountable for dreams. The real and the imagined always share the same processing network. Ultimately, all we know is conceptual.
