ollowing a nasty brawl, the liquor licenses of several seedy bars on Pine Street were revoked. With no other reason for existence, the associated businesses closed and the structures now stand vacant. It is odd how different towns in close proximity can develop such divergent cultural priorities. Just sixteen miles north, the smaller town of Higginsville, without the influence of a state university, can support a nostalgic restored downtown theater.
