xploring meaning and signification of ancient symbols, art works by making new representational renderings. Here an old sign perches above an abandoned gas station. Weathered but still recognizable, Standard Oil and Amoco are now long gone, but a few isolated symbolic remnants remain to continue communicating. This museum object was captured in infrared as a “drive-by-shooting” somewhere in the Flints Hills of Kansas. Keep in mind that many of these symbols have double or multiple meanings.
