A
liberating orientation towards visual exploration is to free the mind from the idea that what is created must be art or must conform to some established standard. A successful stratagem is to simply engage in the activity for the great pleasure induced. In so doing, the artist can become well acquainted with self, and recognize that the dynamic relationship of perception to sensation is uniquely individual. Uniqueness is an exceptional value deserving of careful attention, development, and promotion.
“Don't follow the critics too much. Art appreciation, like love, cannot be done by proxy: It is a very personal affair and is necessary to each individual.” - Robert Henri
