Diffraction Dispersion | Narrow opening Wavelength phase velocity Displacement vectors |
T
he edge of a pinhole bends radiation, causing it to spread out slightly after emerging from the orifice. This phenomenon is known as diffraction. When imaging a strong point source from an acute angle, like the sun, diffracting wavelengths can become differentiated based on wavelength/frequency. Under such conditions the color spectrum of light magically materializes. Or at least average humans are configured to perceptually respond to isolated wavelength sensations as colored light.
