Smoke Stack Way | Digital infrared Pinhole diptych Dark overcast day |

his year's World Wide Pinhole Day was very gloomy with intermittent rain and heavy cloud cover. But the show must go on, so I went out on several occasions to make the best pinhole photograph possible under the unfavorable circumstances. It turns out that several handheld captures made in my neighborhood as a quick experiment, when joined as a diptych, proved to be the most propitious. I believe this is the first time I have united a pinhole optic with infrared radiation, and I am very much looking forward to exploring this combination on a bright sunny day. Every year I assign participation in this event as an extra-credit opportunity in my Materials and Process class. It is always enjoyable to see what my students produce, although it is generally disappointing how few engage.
