Cluster Condition | Pear blossoms At their peak Corporeal delight |
I
cannot let the spring explosion of flowers go by without making a few event records. The pear trees were especially magnificent this season for about one week, including this one growing by the side of my house. Karen planted this specimen during our first summer in Missouri eight years ago. Shooting with a 50mm macro lens, my goal here was to retain the background bokeh, yet preserve ample field depth on the near blossom cluster. To accomplish this, I set the aperture wide open and made a series of focus brackets, then employed the layer “auto-blend” feature of Photoshop in post-process.
“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” - Anais Nin
