he combination of a desolate landscape and dreary weather makes for an ominous image. Although somewhat menacing, the experience of being there was also energizing and visually exhilarating. Not so much portending future disaster as much as providing evidence of past transgressions, I am thinking about locating more abandoned mine sites as photographic fodder. They exude an extraterrestrial feeling, as if visiting some parallel planet.
