O
ften when traveling to a distant location, I lament all the creative possibilities missed along the way. Numerous visual opportunities exist at many points between departure and destination. In a goal oriented culture, we tend to be fixated on the end target and it is often difficult to appreciate the journey. I am trapped in this paradigm and am generally very objective motivated. My interest in photographing from the moving vehicle while in-route is a small effort to better use personal resources and break out of the “terminus compulsion.” When traveling by myself, or with other photographic artists, I attempt to make frequent stops and more fully explore relationships. There is freedom in abandoning all schedules, but it is easier said than done.
“Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it.” - Greg Anderson
