I
n route to Pape Lake, several transformation scenes passed along the way are visually appealing. So I have my camera at hand and ready to “point and shoot” as the world slides by. Operating in manual mode, I pre-set the aperture, shutter speed and focus so the exposure can be made with composition as the primary control variable. But only approximate control can be exercised, as looking through the viewfinder is unsafe from the driver's seat. So I simply point the camera in the general direction of my subject, and hope for the best. Occasionally desire is accompanied by a confident expectation of its fulfillment.
“If you put yourself in a situation of unpredictability and then find that it's completely possible to accept it, then you become an observer.” - David Tudor
