As play is a feature of intellect associated with one's worldview, it is informative to place the activity within a cosmic context. From this perspective, the question of "Why is there something rather than nothing?" comes to mind. Furthermore, the origin of what exists cannot be something that now exists; it must be something that does not already exist. Therefore an origin of what exists cannot exist. Quantum physics postulates it is somehow feasible for electrons to slip in and out of existence based solely on probability. But the laws of physics need not apply in alternate parallel universes. Play is complicated.
