Starry Night | Inspiring repertoire Time in solitude Axis rotation |
O
n our first visit to the Kearn Memorial Wildlife Area, Matthew and I decided to extend photographing into the night for some star action. Actually it was Matt that was enthusiastic about the prospects, and I went along for the ride. But as is always the case when photography is involved, I was very contented to exploit the opportunity. Weather conditions were just about perfect - relatively warm, cloudless and without wind. And the stars made their appearance in glorious abundance.
Looking up at the cosmos from the surface of this small spinning rock helps to define one's place in the order of the universe. Many daily concerns are relocated into their true positions of insignificance.
“If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning: just as, if there were no light in the universe and therefore no creatures with eyes, we should never know it was dark. Dark would be without meaning.” - C.S. Lewis
