his obtuse pier was captured at Pape Lake and was a little different from the others in the series as it is not designed for fishing but rather for small boat dockage. Covering more distance during image capture while employing a longer shutter speed and a faster ambulation pace, things have become more theoretical. But although the visual result can be construed as abstract art, the image is firmly base on scientific optics and thus is an accurate object representation describing interaction with energy in space over time. An appealing aspect of this rendering technique is how it embodies a multiplicity of ideas simultaneously. Depicting a smooth continuum of viewpoints, the elements of color, line, form, and texture combine to generate an emotional response. As I gain more control over this image modality through practice, I also am becoming more spontaneous in my approach.
“A painter paints the appearance of things, not their objective correctness, in fact he creates new appearances of things.” - Ernst Ludwig Kirchner
