hooting directly into the sun can be tricky, but will occasionally produce worthy results. This image was made using a hand-built lens which is simply a single element mounted in a body cap. The optic was originally an internal unit in an old zoom lens and features an iridescent golden hue either from radioactive decay or a coating layer. It has no aperture control or focusing adjustment and refracts with much spherical aberration. Converting defects in virtues is one of my hobbies.
