n my long “out and back” Katy Trail bike rides this summer, I would turn around at the top of the modern Boonslick Bridge. Here is an infrared view made from this vantage point looking upstream featuring the nearby neglected MKT Bridge. Although no longer open for train traffic, it is estimated that the old span could support another 75 years of heavy train use. Many state residents hope to save this historic landmark by converting it for pedestrian use within the Katy Trail State Park.
