ome lenses will create a circular infrared hot spot, which is visible in the middle of this image, caused by internal radiation reflections between lens elements. Captured with my Nikon 55mm f1.2 lens, it is apparent that this optic is not optimal for gathering long wavelength radiation. In this rendering, the anomaly is not detrimental to the composition, but most of the shots from this excursion were consequently spoiled. Part of the operational gratification of photography is ascertaining what equipment works best under different circumstances.
It has been a great summer, but heading into fall it's now time to shift creative gears. This will be the last infrared post for a while.
