Lily Pads

   Rooted in soil
Surface floating leaves
Sometimes invasive

S ame place and same lens as yesterday's post. There is a waxy appearance to water lily leaves which under certain lighting conditions can be intriguing. I was curious as to how this characteristic would translate in infrared, and here is the pictorial answer. I think the tonality shifts are fascinating and probably would have pleased Monet. I like to speculate on how broader technical knowledge might have affected the creative output of the old masters.

“No one is an artist unless he carries his picture in his head before painting it, and is sure of his method and composition.” - Claude Monet
