esterday morning I went for a beautiful ride on the Katy Trial. The chosen route was from Windsor to Clinton and back for a total of 34 miles. While stopped in Calhoun for a short rest, I talked to 81 year old “Buz Adams,” long time resident and local historian. We discussed the location of the old Calhoun MKT train depot, now long gone, and the operation of this old wooden granary. It is perhaps the oldest such structure still standing in Missouri, but is slowly deteriorating and soon may be only a memory, just like the depot.
“The leaves of memory seemed to make
A mournful rustling in the dark.”
- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
