Simulacrum Dialogue

   Vague semblance
Imitative appearance
Equivocal interpretation

F urther down the road is a church. There are lots of them in this small town, some interesting, some ostentatious and garish. This one appears more like a government office building than a religious shrine. Using the same base technique described in the previous post, I added a grunge layer to further enhance the ambiguity. I consider the combination of ideas and concepts employed in this little mini-series to be experimental. When the outcome of the creative process becomes predictable, I move on to the next approach. Each step of the journey shapes future progress.

“The best reason to paint is that there is no reason to paint....I'd like to pretend that I've never seen anything, never read anything, never heard anything...and then make something....Every time I make something I think about the people who are going to see it and every time I see something, I think about the person who made it....Nothing is important...so everything is important.” - Keith Haring
