rom a distance, I thought these prairie trees might be “Ents.” So I angled off in a direction which would bring me up-close and intimate. On arrival at the base, although they were somewhat anthropomorphic, I couldn't entice these ancient giants into verbal conversation. But still they might only be shy or cautious, as are most of the talking trees and other forms of sentient vegetable life common to numerous mythologies and legends. Perhaps they just need more time to get to know me better.
