eriodically I get interested in circles and spheres and thought that my new recursive image processing technique might work well with a simulated refracting crystal globe. So using the Photoshop polar coordinate filter, I manufactured this rendering. Some people have reacted favorably and have inquired on the recipe.
Make a square selection
Make a new layer via copy
Apply Polar Coordinates filter: Polar to Rectangular
Rotate the layer 180 degrees
Apply Polar Coordinates filter: Rectangular to Polar
Crop out the sphere
