Abide by the rules

A significant constraint of any society is the requirement to behave in ways acceptable to the multitude. I most cases this amounts to common sense, recognizing how disruptive certain unrestrained conduct can be to an aggregate populace. But there are aspects of fitting into the colony which are unnecessarily restrictive. In a free culture, individuals can attempt to overcome this limitation by isolating themselves from the population. The collective generally ignores hermits.

“Our individual lives cannot, generally, be works of art unless the social order is also.” - Charles Horton Cooley
