Eskridge Elevator

Pay Way

S tacked buildings. The way these tall structures are built, with receding roofs at odd angles and at different levels, is charming. Originally these were not only functional, but also a symbol of prosperity representing the abundance of the plains. I was thinking it would be interesting to convert historic grain elevators into residential dwellings, and wondered if such projects had been accomplished. A quick Google search revealed that indeed it has been done, with a surprising range of reuse alternatives, from hotels and apartments to single family private residences. It does seem to require much time, money and effort.
