Frontage Tensions

   Various abstractions
Coloristic awareness
Spatial shapes

H ere is an image informed by three separate art movements: cubism, surrealism, and hyperrealism. It is another of those infrequent instances when I knew I was on to something at the point of capture. I really like opportunities to render an extremely representational scene that embodies characteristics which are also exceptionally abstract. Shape and color relationships dominate, flattening the dimensions which slowly emerge as a street scene with lamp-post shadow and parking-meter detail. This is illusory actuality in the post post-modern world.

“Abstraction and realism work best together.” - Ken Danby
