hen I can find wonderful examples of discarded objects in a beautiful state of decay it makes me think about fine art. Fine art is produced or intended primarily for beauty rather than utility, requiring highly developed techniques and skills. Much of the intrinsic value of such work resides in the subtlety and complexity of the art object surface treatment in terms of color and textural elements. Here we have an image of something originally designed and used principally for utilitarian purposes, which now has an intricate patina of hue, tone and texture that resulted from natural aging and exposure to the elements. If the back end of this trailer could be sliced off, framed and hung in a gallery, it would rival the finest of fine art.
“The beautiful is in nature, and it is encountered under the most diverse forms of reality. Once it is found it belongs to art, or rather to the artist who discovers it.” - Gustave Courbet
