Maple Leaf Lake

R ecently I visited the Maple Leaf Conservation Area near Higginsville for the first time. Turns out this is a relatively large 826-acre public-use area featuring a big fishing lake shaped like a maple leaf. The land surrounding the lake consists primarily of open fields, wooded draws, and a 9-acre wetland. Being only sixteen miles from my house, it is surprising that it has taken me six years to discover such a resource.
