Maple Leaf Lake

R ecently I visited the Maple Leaf Conservation Area near Higginsville for the first time. Turns out this is a relatively large 826-acre public-use area featuring a big fishing lake shaped like a maple leaf. The land surrounding the lake consists primarily of open fields, wooded draws, and a 9-acre wetland. Being only sixteen miles from my house, it is surprising that it has taken me six years to discover such a resource.

“The urge to create, the urge to photograph, comes in part from the deep desire to live with more integrity, to live more in peace with the world, and possibly to help others to do the same.” - Wynn Bullock
