andering around downtown Kansas City on an overcast day and looking up at the tops of tall buildings, I was struck by the similarities and differences of these two structures in terms of color and geometry against the flat monochrome sky. The skyscraper is a modern expression of the ancient symbol of the cosmic axis which expresses a point of connection between earth and sky where the four compass directions converge.
