A small alcove on Smithville Lake provided an intimate view of dead trees surrounded by water. At the base of each tree clings an accumulation of ice, presumably the result of wind and wave dynamics. It is interesting how some locations are rich in potential images, offering a plethora of opportunities, while others are visually barren. Gradually I am coming to the viewpoint that this is more an internal condition rather than an external manifestation. The challenge is to respond creatively to all encountered environments.
