Sound conclusion

W alking on a frozen lake provides unusual sights and sounds. The somber light renders a bleak and alien landscape that is intriguing but disquieting. As I move along the surface ice layer, groans punctuated with an occasional loud crack protest my mass. Tracks of other creatures mark the surface and head off in reckless directions - dare I follow? Persistent warm pockets of liquid raise questions of why the freeze is differential. It might not be good for my camera if the ice were to give way.
