oute 66 lives on in the American collective consciousness, here as a corporate identity. Phillips 66 took part of its name directly from the famous highway and modeled their trademark and signage on the original shield used as a road marker. I have indifferently walked under this sign on my way to and from work for the last six years, but suddenly one recent evening found it photogenic worthy. Part of the capture impulse came from the unique rendering characteristics imparted by a newly assembled fixed focus lens designed around an extremely wide aperture.
