he bare outlines of trees silhouetted against the stark grey skies of winter are structurally appealing. Late in the season, I know my opportunity to enjoy and capture the minimalist winter landscape will soon be over. Of course each season offers its own visual pleasures and the onset of warmer weather will be welcome, but for me winter is especially rewarding. So I hope to maximize what time remains in this cycle, and perhaps capture interesting small details as the spring transition becomes evident. The challenge is to perceive more than expected and to expand beyond the accustomed.
“Landscape has been for me one of the sources of my energy… I find that all natural forms are a source of unending interest – tree trunks… the texture and variety of grasses… The whole of Nature is an endless demonstration of shape and form.” - Henry Moore
