Trailridge

   Shallow rocky soil
Underlain by limestone
Plowing impossible

C limbing with a load of camera equipment up to the top of the prominence on a snow covered trail generated just enough heat to keep warm. The effort was well rewarded once the summit was reached. Wonderful views of the Flint Hills stretched out in all directions as the early morning light moved through its rapid progression. I feel a real affinity with this landscape, and desire for a more extended study. Fortunately it is only about a three hour drive from Warrensburg.

“For me, a landscape does not exist in its own right, since its appearance changes at every moment; but the surrounding atmosphere brings it to life - the light and the air which vary continually. For me, it is only the surrounding atmosphere which gives subjects their true value.” - Claude Monet
