Radiative properties

S urface reflectance and heat transfer capacity are important fundamental physical properties of snow and ice which modulate energy exchanges at surface boundaries. Albedo is the surface reflectance of incoming solar radiation defined by the ratio of reflected to incident radiation. Reflected radiation is not converted into heat. The albedo of an object thus determines visual brightness when viewed with reflected light. Photographers work with the basic building blocks of existence.
