On the Rocks

   From the sky
Ice in close contact
Surface encrustation

T ransformations that occur at phase change boundaries and the associated effects on appearance are fascinating. The exact behavior of radiation reflection and transmission depends on the material properties on both sides of the boundary. Water that crosses over from liquid to solid can exhibit a wide range of radiation interactions. It can be mostly transparent or highly reflective. From an aesthetic viewpoint, I like to explore intimate details of this visual manifestation addressing questions of material existence.
