Five Leaf Ivy

   Perennial woody
Rampant grower
May climb

O n a walk to the Tea House for lunch in the middle of the day, I noticed this Virginia Creeper creeping up the side of a white-washed cinder block building. I liked how the oblique light was casting shadows and revealing texture, so I stopped for a quickly composed snap. Later I processed it as a single 16 bit image through Dynamic HDR using the “fake it until you make it” method. This treatment seems to enhance the spatial property of dimensionality.

“Warning: Virginia creeper berries are highly toxic to humans and may be fatal if eaten. Its sap can also cause skin irritation in some people.” - U.S. Department of Agriculture
