Pecos Park

   Impact of geography
On human experience
Strikingly clear

L ocated in a natural passage through the southern end of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the ruins of a Pecos Pueblo and Spanish mission coexist. On a beautiful and peaceful early morning I had the opportunity to explore the park, hiking around loaded with camera gear for several hours. The landscape here is an especially wonderful mix of soft harshness. New Mexico is stunning and it is easy to understand why so many artists end up here, inspired by the natural splendor.

“I almost never set out to photograph a landscape, nor do I think of my camera as a means of recording a mountain or an animal unless I absolutely need a 'record shot'. My first thought is always of light.” - Galen Rowell
