I find irresistible these weathered signs still hanging off old store fronts. This example adorners a brick structure in the business district of Franklin, located in the south-central part of Nebraska on the Republican River, six miles from the Kansas border on U.S. Highway 136 and State Highway 10. The town appeared to be in decline, with very little business or anything else going on. I used the HDR technique from two raw conversions, increasing the dynamic range and producing a hyper-real surrealistic rendering.

“I want to shake off the dust of this one-horse town. I want to explore the world. I want to watch TV in a different time zone. I want to visit strange, exotic malls...I want to live, Marge! Won't you let me live?” - Homer Simpson
