Grinstead Pods

   Hanging cluster
Seedcase capsules
Protective encasement

T hese trees are located in several spots on the UCM campus. I have never noticed them elsewhere locally, so I guess they are not indigenes but rather exotic imports from someplace. They seem quite healthy and tolerate our summer droughts well. Their most distinguishing feature is these seed pods which are extraordinary and quite beautiful. Shot with a recently acquired old 250mm f5.6 catadioptric lens. I blended two exposures, one purposely out of focus and one in focus, to achieve a soft dreamlike effect.

“All religions, arts and sciences are branches of the same tree. All these aspirations are directed toward ennobling man's life, lifting it from the sphere of mere physical existence and leading the individual towards freedom.” - Albert Einstein
