A zone plate triptych with vertical movement, this image is the start of my new "supersampler" series. The idea is to relate several views of the same subject representing both temporal and spatial displacement. The name "supersampler" comes from a plastic toy camera with four lenses made by Lomographische AG of Austria that features four plastic lenses that fire sequentially. Like other lomography cameras, these analog units are deliberately low-fidelity and inexpensively constructed. But I like the effect and am adapting the concept to my well constructed and sophisticated Canon 5D.

The photos in this series are intended to be little narratives - after the first frame, time passes, objects move, and the story develops as you progress from frame to frame. A dialog is established between frames as connections are both created and destroyed.

“Storytelling reveals meaning without committing the error of defining it.” - Hannah Arendt

“Don't think, just shoot” - Lomography motto
