Ferris 3

   Movement
In passage to
Nightfall

S witching to my Canon EF 24-105 mm f/4L IS USM Zoom Lens with the Singh-ray variable neutral density filter attached, I began to work with long exposures. With lots of ambient light still bouncing around, I initially functioned handheld to induce some camera movement to the image. The Vari-ND filter is capable of densities of more than eight stops. Results at these densities, however, may prove unpredictable because it is constructed of crossed polarizer's, and odd color banding can occur. Of course this effect can be used to advantage under certain circumstances.
